DUCK KEY, FLA (January 2024) – Hawks Cay Resort, the largest resort in the Florida Keys, now warmly welcomes dogs as part of its official pet-friendly program, 'Vacay Pup.' This program introduces an array of special amenities and experiences, including the resort's Pup Planner, select dining options, unique activities, and additional features, all crafted to enhance the stay for furry friends and their owners.

"Becoming pet-friendly is a significant enhancement for both new and returning guests, transforming Hawks Cay Resort into an even more appealing destination," said Tiffiany Holmes, Resort Director at Hawks Cay Resort. "With Vacay Pup, we're not only inviting pets; we're welcoming an integral part of our guests' families on vacation. This makes it seamless for drive-in travelers to experience the magic of Hawks Cay with their beloved pets in the paradise of the Florida Keys."

To ensure a smooth and enjoyable stay, guests can register their pets upon check-in, receiving a Pup Pass bandana to be displayed on the pet or tied to the leash. Hawks Cay Resort prioritizes pet health, requiring up-to-date vaccinations as part of their commitment to maintaining a healthy environment. For up to two pets staying seven nights, a nonrefundable fee of $150 per night applies, with an additional $200 nonrefundable cleaning fee for stays exceeding five nights. A portion of this fee is donated to a local shelter in the pet's name.

The Vacay Pup amenity package elevates the experience, featuring a ‘Pup Nap Time’ door sign, in-room dog bowl, pup paradise relief bags, a special Vacay Pup play ball for Very Important Pups (VIPs), and dog beds upon request. Debuting with the program is Pup Paradise Park, a new outdoor area for pups to run and play, featuring pet-protected artificial turf and native shade trees.

Pups are invited to indulge in a new pet-friendly dining menu designed by the resort’s food & beverage team, offered at the pet-friendly dining outlets on property. Featuring tail-wagging items like roasted pig ears, a ‘quarter hounder’ burger and ‘dog beer,’ the pet-friendly menu can be found at Marketplace, Angler & Ale, and Tiki Beach.

Dogs, adhering to Monroe County regulations, must be leashed at all times, and pet parents are reminded to supervise their pets throughout the property. The Pup Pass unlocks access to various resort areas for pets, including Marketplace's outdoor seating, Pup Paradise Park, Tiki Beach, and the outdoor area of Angler & Ale. Pups can relax in a Pup Cabana while enjoying a dog-friendly ‘Bottom Sniffer Dog Beer’ or hop aboard a boat charter with the whole family.

To assist pet owners seamlessly, an assigned Pup Planner is available for travel information, including pup-friendly locations within the Keys, delivery of pet supplies, and local service recommendations. As the Vacay Pup program evolves, Hawks Cay Resort plans to introduce additional services and amenities, enhancing the overall experience for both furry companions and their owners.
